Delhi AQI today: Air quality index nears 'very poor' category again, Nehru Nagar worst performer. Check details

Delhi AQI update: Delhi's air quality has worsened, slipping back into the 'very poor' category after a brief improvement. Several monitoring stations reported high AQI levels, with Nehru Nagar recording the highest pollution. The air quality is expected to remain poor for the next few days, though not likely to reach 'severe' levels due to prevailing winds.
The air quality of Delhi showed no signs of improvement and it slipped closer to the ‘very poor' category, just a day after strong winds improved the air quality from 'very poor' to 'poor'. At 9 am, the air quality in Anand Vihar stood at 327 in the 'very poor' category. The air quality in Burari Crossing was also in 'very poor' category as the AQI was 305 at 9 am.
At 7 am too, the AQI stood at 298 - still in the 'poor' category - as a layer of fog and smoke blanketed the capital, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Delhi witnessed a slight respite on Sunday after air quality in Delhi improved to the 'poor' category after 24 days of 'very poor' air. The capital city last recorded Air Quality Index (AQI) in the 'poor' category on November 5 at 202, after which the readings turned 'very poor', according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data. However, nearly 22 of 39 monitoring stations still showed readings in the ‘very poor' range.
The air quality is expected to remain in the same range over the next few days. With wind speeds likely to remain on the higher side, the AQI is not expected to slip into the 'severe' category for at least the next two days, Mahesh Palawat, Vice-President (meteorology and climate change) at Skymet Weather, told PTI.

In Greater Noida, the air quality was in 'poor' category and the AQI was recorded at 262 on Monday morning. Gurugram fared slightly better than Delhi as the air quality was in 'poor' category and the AQI stood at 274 today.According to the Sameer app developed by the CPCB, no monitoring station in Delhi recorded 'severe' air quality on Sunday, similar to Saturday. In contrast, eight stations were in the 'severe' category on Friday.
The CPCB classifies an AQI between 0 and 50 as 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 as 'severe'.
The average AQI for November was 357 -- in the 'very poor' range but lower than the previous two years, 374 in 2024, and 366 in 2023. The city did not record a single 'good', 'satisfactory', or 'moderate' air quality day in November. There were three 'poor' AQI days, 24 'very poor' days, and three 'severe' days, according to the CPCB.
