AIFF Seeks 'Flexible' Roadmap Ahead Of Meeting With Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya

The All India Football Federation will have a flexible approach when stakeholders of all teams meet Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, aiming to discuss Indian football, which finds itself in shambles and the future looks bleak at best.

The sports ministry convened the meeting on Supreme Court directives after the All India Football Federation's tender for Indian Super League commercial rights couldn't attract any bidders.

The Sports Authority of India will host six separate meetings, featuring discussions with ISL clubs, I-League clubs, potential commercial partners, FSDL, AIFF's commercial partner until December 8 and multiple OTT platforms.

As per a PTI report, the All India Football Federation is open to reducing the annual minimum guaranteed payment, Rs 37.5 crore or 5% of gross revenue, for the next five years, as outlined in the tender, provided it receives a firm assurance of financial support from the government.

If the minimum guaranteed payment is reduced, the All India Football Federation will seek government support to finance national teams and hold various tournaments, the report states.

“The AIFF conducts 1700 matches and 21 championships in a year and it needs funds to prepare the national teams and ISL has been its main source of AIFF's income. Moreover, three women's teams (senior, U20 and U17) as well as the men's U17 team have qualified for the Asian Cup for the first time," a source said while speaking to PTI.

The federation has extended the invitation to representatives from all I-League and Indian Women's League clubs as well, who will join the online meeting with Mandaviya on the same day.
