After PM Modi’s Visit To Lucknow, Locals Caught ‘Stealing’ Flower Pots From Roadside: ‘Ye Nawabi Kabhi Nahi Jayegi’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lucknow on December 25 to commemorate the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Official programmes and a significant inauguration were planned during his visit. However, once the events concluded, visuals from the city quickly captured widespread attention on social media.
Soon after PM Modi left the Uttar Pradesh capital, a video shot on city roads began circulating online. The clip showed people taking away flower pots that were placed as part of the arrangements during his visit.
Video Captures Locals ‘Stealing' Flower Pots In Lucknow
The clip that surfaced on social media shows several people stopping along the roadside where decorative flower pots were placed. Many of them are seen arriving on two-wheelers and then picking up the pots before riding away.
While some were seen picking a single flower pot, others lifted two or three at a time. As the camera panned, it became evident that multiple people were involved.
At one point, the person recording the video questions those taking the plants and asks, “Yaha se kyu le ja rahe ho aap log? (Why are you taking them from here?)." Despite the question being raised on camera, people continue picking up the pots.
The video also shows a police officer standing nearby, but no action is taken as the people carrying the pots walk away without interruption.
The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a journalist with the caption, “Modi ji Lucknow se chale gaye aur Lucknow walo ne gamle churana shuru kar diya (Modi ji left Lucknow and the people of Lucknow started stealing flower pots)."

What Are People Saying Online
As the video spread, it triggered sharp reactions online with many users calling out the behaviour seen in the clip.
One user commented, “People who mistake government property for private property can't be helped. Stealing flower pots from festivals. Stealing pots from roads. Stealing street lights from poles. Even stealing dustbins to become a world guru. Will the government identify these people and recover from them?"
Another wrote, “Nawabo ka sehar, ye nawabi kabhi nahi jayegi (City of Nawabs, this royal attitude will never go away)."
“The folks from Lucknow were never thieves; they lived life in royal style. When did all this happen…?" someone else remarked.
“There is no law and no civic sense," read another comment.
