Afghanistan Cancels Pakistan Delegation's Kabul Visit, Bars Entry Of New Diplomats Amid Border Clashes

In a move that comes across as an insult amid rising tensions between the two countries, the Taliban government in Afghanistan has decided to decline a visit from a Pakistani delegation due to ongoing border violations.

Going a step ahead, the Afghan Taliban has restricted the entry of new Pakistani diplomats and political delegations.

Issuing a strong warning to Pakistan on Monday, Taliban government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said Afghanistan will give a decisive response to repeated violations of its sovereignty and airspace. In protest against the alleged cross-border incursions, he has announced that an upcoming visit by a Pakistani delegation to Kabul has been cancelled.

The Taliban government already warned Pakistan against this visit during a press conference on Sunday (October 12), but the official decision was conveyed to the Pakistan Foreign Office.

Earlier, during his ongoing visit to India, Afghan foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said Afghanistan achieved its objective in the border skirmish against Pakistan, and stopped the attack at the request of Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Replying to media queries, he said Afghanistan retaliated to Pakistani aggression on the border, and objectives were achieved.

“During the operation, our friendly countries, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE, requested that the war should stop, and we agreed," Muttaqi said.

Muttaqi said there has been no significant incident after that. “We believe that war is not a solution to any problem. Dialogue and diplomacy are needed to resolve issues. This will be our policy in future as well. We want people in the region to live in peace and prosper, and lead a good life," he said.
