Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar 2 To Feature Demonetization, 'Prime Minister References' | CBFC Orders 21 Edits
Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge has generated significant buzz ahead of its release, building on the success of the first film. While waiting for the sequel to drop, fans have speculated what will happen in Dhurandhar 2. Amid the chatter, the film’s censor certificate has gone viral, and it not only shows the cuts that the film is required to make but also hints at certain plot points.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge has finally cleared the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) process and has received an A certificate. The makers have been asked to make 21 modifications to the final film, including violence disclaimers and reduction of scenes featuring “abusive words", “hitting the head with hammer", “beheading and kicking", “hitting the head with cement blocks" and “smashing the eye".
The makers also need to correct the date of demonetization, as per the certificate. This suggests certain plots and settings in the film. The certificate also indicates that Dhurandhar 2 will feature an end-credits scene, as in the first part of the franchise. An official permission letter has also been submitted to the CBFC “for the usage of the Prime Minister references and news footage in the film".
The certificate mentions that the film’s runtime has been reduced by 1 minute and 34 seconds, with 25 seconds of footage replaced. The runtime, per the certificate, is 3 hours, 49 minutes, and 6 seconds. Dhurandhar: The Revenge will have a 15-minute longer runtime than the first part of the franchise, which ran 3 hours and 34 minutes.
Dhurandhar 2 picks up where the first film left off. It will see Ranveer Singh’s Hamza Ali Mazari’s rise to power in Pakistan’s criminal world. Besides, the film will also explore his journey from becoming Hamza from Jaskirat Singh Rangi, infiltrating Pakistan as a spy to avenge the terrorist attacks in the nation.
The original film was a massive success, earning around Rs 1300 crore globally and running in theatres for months. It was also rereleased ahead of the sequel’s drop. Dhurandhar: The Revenge will be out on March 19, with paid preview shows starting from March 18.
