44,000 Startups Recognised In 2025 As Total Tops 2 Lakh, 21 Lakh Jobs Added: Piyush Goyal
Indian startup ecosystem continues to strengthen and dominate in 2025, with the total number of government-recognised startups crossing the 2 lakh-mark, as shared by the Union Minister Piyush Goyal in an X post, adding, ‘an incredible milestone to wrap up 2025!'.
What marks a phenomenal year is the recognition of over 44,000 entities in 2025, the highest in a year since the inception of the Startup India initiative.
In the post, Goyal highlighted that 48 per cent of these startups have at least one woman director/partner.
“These startups have also helped generate over 21 lakh direct jobs," he added.
The Minister informed that Rs 25,320+ crore capital invested in over 1,350 startups in Alternative Investment Funds under the Fund of Funds for Startups Scheme in 2025.
Apart from this, Rs 775+ crore granted under the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups.
Under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, a total fund of Rs 585 crore was given to 3,200+ startups applications by incubators.
Innovation and patent filing also boosted in 2025, with more than 16,400 new patent applications being filed by startups.
The government offered a level playing field to over 34,800 recognised startups thanks to onboarding on Government eMarketplace platform.
“As we prepare to enter a new year, this spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship will continue to drive growth, opportunities and prosperity for all," Goyal concluded the X post with a video.
