22-Year-Old Loses 85 Kg In Memory Of His Mother: ‘Wasn't Allowed To Perform Final Ritual, PPE Suit Was Too Small’

Losing weight is never easy. It demands patience, discipline, a lot of effort, and of course, healthy eating. Even with all the effort, the process can feel painfully slow. But Sobhik Sahu, who once weighed 160 kg, has become a symbol of grit after shedding 85 kilos through consistent workouts and a clean, high-protein diet.

In a deeply emotional video shared on social media, Sobhik opened up about his journey as a 22-year-old who, in his words, “carried more weight in his heart than in his body." At his heaviest, he battled high blood pressure, type 1 diabetes, asthma, arthritis, and fissures, all while struggling with unhealthy eating patterns.

The Turning Point

The life-changing moment, he shared, came with the passing of his mother. Due to his size, he wasn't allowed to perform her final rites, as the PPE suit was too small, too tight, and too restricting.

“But I didn't give up. I wore two PPE kits just to fulfil my last duty to her. That moment changed everything. That day I made a promise—I won't live like this anymore, for my life and for the mother who believed in me," he recalled.

From there began a gruelling journey of rebuilding himself “step by step, sweat after sweat, pain after pain, day after day." And now he weighs 75 kg.

“This stage is not the finish line," he says in the video, adding, “It is my tribute to the mother who raised a fighter. This isn't a weight loss. This is a rebirth."

‘Promise Kept'

Sobhik dedicated the transformation entirely to his mother, calling it a “promise kept." In the caption he wrote, “This transformation is not just a journey, it's a tribute to my mother for everything she taught me and the upbringing she gave to me. Promise kept. It's one of her last wishes to see me fit, and today I'm 85 kg down, having started my journey from 160 kg and ended this prep at 75 kg body weight."

Social media users were quick to shower him with love and admiration, with many exclaiming that his mother will definitely be proud of him.

“She raised a fighter long before the world saw one. This is her victory too," read a comment.

In the heartfelt note, he added, “If my mother is watching me, then I just wanted to say that now his son doesn't have to check his blood pressure multiple times a day or doesn't have to eat multiple medicines with every single meal. I have only one single regret in my entire life: that the lady who raised me wasn't able to see how far I came."

Calling this transformation the beginning of a new life, he hopes his journey makes his mother proud. “I just wanted to make my parents proud, and I hope my mother will be a bit happy with whatever I have achieved till now in terms of my health, fitness and life," he concluded.
