18th Rozgar Mela: PM Modi hands over 61,000 government job letters across 45 locations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed more than 61,000 job appointment letters on Saturday to mark a Rozgar Mela programme. He attended the event via video conferencing and also delivered an address to the appointees.
As per the official statement, the Rozgar Mela forms a major part of the government's broader strategy to place employment generation at the centre of governance. The initiative, launched to fast-track recruitment across government departments, has already seen the issuance of more than 11 lakh appointment letters to date.
The 18th Rozgar Mela was conducted simultaneously at 45 locations across the country. Candidates chosen from different parts of India will join a wide range of ministries and departments of the Government of India.
The newly appointed candidates will be placed into several crucial arms of the central government. These include the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Financial Services, Department of Higher Education, and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The recruits will take up roles across administrative, technical, and support functions within the departments.
The Prime Minister's interaction with the appointees is considered an opportunity to directly engage with young recruits in the government service.
This event follows the 17th edition of the Rozgar Mela, which was conducted in October last year, when over 51,000 appointment letters were handed over as per a PTI report. During that event, Prime Minister Modi addressed the gathering through video conferencing and distributed job letters to candidates joining departments like the Department of Posts and other central government offices across the country.
The October programme was conducted at multiple locations nationwide and was attended by senior Union ministers, including Union Minister for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions Jitendra Singh, along with Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta.
With the latest edition expanding the number of appointment letters to over 61,000, the government has highlighted the continuity of the Rozgar Mela platform for recruitment plans.
